Carroll Hinchion (1).jpg

Carroll has been a STARS scholars since 2013 and recently received her Associate’s degree from Iowa Western in the field of Human Service-Addictive Studies.  A native of the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area, Carroll has been working two jobs to support herself and her family as well as going to school.  Through it all, Carroll has been able to maintain an A average graduated with honors with a degree in Social Work from Nebraska Wesleyan.  She appreciates how the STARS scholarship is geared toward parents and that it offers family events that she can enjoy her with her four-year-old son.  Her advice to others is “Don’t hesitate (in going back to school) because you think it is too late to go back; it is never too late to start!”

Applications for the STARS Scholarship are now being accepted: Call 712-322-8800 ext 7 for more details.  This scholarship program is a part of the Council Bluffs Community Education Foundation and is generously funded by the Iowa West Foundation.
